Glenneth Lavoy Beard, affectionately known as "Glenn," passed away peacefully in Dickson, Tennessee on July 27, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on December 21 1938, in Bradford, Arkansas, Glenn exemplified a life characterized by kindness, strength, hard work, honesty, and love for his family and friends.
Throughout his life, Glenn made his mark as a talented carpenter. His dedication to his craft and his meticulous attention to detail earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Beyond his remarkable skills as a carpenter, Glenn was a comforting presence, always willing to lend a helping hand and demonstrating unwavering loyalty to his family and friends.
Glenn's love for life was reflected in his hobbies and interests. He enjoyed attending country and gospel music concerts and working outdoors, often finding joy and peace in nature. His favorite places included his workshop, home, and spending cherished moments with loved ones. Glenn had a particular fondness for fried catfish, beans, cornbread, and desserts, delighting in the simple pleasures of life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Barbara Palmer Beard of Dickson, TN; his daughter, Kenna Walker (Gregg) of Murray, KY; grandson, Kagan Walker (Kayla) of Versailles, KY; granddaughter, Rebecca Madding (Josh) of Murray, KY; and great-grandchildren, Leighton, Lillian, and Levi of Murray, KY. Glenn's legacy will also be remembered by close family friend Carol Ann Passmore of Murray, KY.
He was preceded in death by his dear parents, Della and "Doc" Beard, as well as several brothers and sisters, who together encompass a part of his enduring story.
A visitation will be held in Glenn's honor on August 1, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Harpeth Hills Memory Garden, Funeral Home, & Cremation Center in Nashville, TN, followed by a funeral service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Glenn will be laid to rest following a burial service from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location.
As we celebrate the life of Glenneth Beard, we remember him not only for his contributions as a skilled carpenter but also for his loving spirit and devotion to his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
