Gene A. Tucker, Jr. passed away on September 10, 2025 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the age of 70.
Born on July 11, 1955, in Nashville, Tennessee, Gene was a graduate of David Lipscomb High School and went on to earn his degree from David Lipscomb College in 1978.
Gene was an avid reader, a nature lover, and an outdoorsman who especially enjoyed visiting national parks and hiking in the great outdoors. As a naturally curious person with a remarkable memory, Gene loved learning new things, especially concerning military history, both domestic and abroad. This passion for learning led to a lifelong search for books on seemingly every topic to add to his extensive home library.
Gene loved the outdoors and hiked every day he could, including the days before his passing. He found beauty in every landscape, and had a special fondness for the high deserts found in many of the places he lived throughout his life. Gene was happiest on his frequent road trips to national parks, often finding hidden spots along the way likely to be overlooked by others. Whether it be a small county museum or a local family bakery, he loved taking the time to learn all that he could about the people and the places they called home.
Gene Tucker’s appreciation for the natural world, his lifelong love of learning, and his quiet strength will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by the following immediate family members: Joy Tucker, Jessica Tucker, Michael Tucker, Mark Tucker, and McCartney Tucker.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
