Etta Mai Gibson, born on January 10, 1945, peacefully passed away on May 23, 2026, at her home in Smyrna, Tennessee. Her life and spirit that touched all who knew her.
Etta is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Gibson Sr.; parents, Buford Jones and Emma Kiger; son, Kevin Brimm; daughters, Jennifer Brimm and Misty Brimm; and sister, Evelyn Tucker.
Etta is survived by her son, Robert Gibson of Old Hickory, TN; daughter, Stephanie Rivera of Longwood, FL; grandson, Jacob Brimm of Tallahassee, FL; granddaughter, Sophia Rivera of Longwood, FL; great-nephews, Donovan Neilson and Joseph Neilson of Smyrna, TN; and great-niece Evelyn Neilson of Old Hickory, TN.
Etta’s proud journey included a fulfilling career as an accountant, a profession in which her precision and commitment shone. After retirement, she embraced the role of homemaker, nurturing her home with the same care and attention that had defined her professional life. Her days were enriched by her involvement with Stones River Baptist Church, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She carried a special verse close to her heart, “all things are possible with God,” a saying that reflected her trust and hope in the Lord.
While her passing leaves a profound void in her family and friends, the memories of Etta’s warmth and kindness remain vivid. Her journey culminates as family, friends, and community gather to honor and remember her life.
Visitation will be held on June 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, with a graveside service immediately following at 2:00 PM at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
Etta’s legacy is marked by her loving family who will keep her legacy alive. She will be deeply missed.
