Emma Jean Hooper left this world on November 22, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on January 18, 1938, she grew up in Helena, Arkansas.
Jean graduated from East Nashville High School in 1955 before furthering her education at Nashville Community College.
Jean had a career that spanned various esteemed organizations including the First American National Bank, National Life and Accident Insurance Company, Commerce Union Bank, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the Tennessee Medical Association, where she retired in 2004 after 18 and a half years of service.
Jean had a passion for sports, enthusiastically supporting the Tennessee Titans and the New York Yankees. Her hobbies included watching movies and television, writing, crafting, painting, and drawing, along with engaging in YMCA activities.
A true survivor, she was characterized by her tomboy spirit, dry wit, and deeply patriotic spirit. While her straightforward demeanor could be perceived as difficult at times, those who knew her well understood the depth of her character and the warmth beneath her tough exterior.
She leaves behind her beloved children, Cathie L. O'Connor, Carol A. Hooper, and Donna M. Hooper; grandchildren, Jamie E. Smith and Allison P. Smith, great-grandchildren, Gabrielle A. Smith and Elias Tantaris as well as numerous friends.
