Dr. Andrew Averett-Age 61, of Linden, passed away October 23, 2021.
Andy was an extremely intelligent, witty, one of a kind, larger than life- friend, brother, and father. He was a graduate of Perry Co High School and furthered his career to eventually graduate with a doctorate degree from the University of TN Health Science Center. Upon graduation, he returned to his hometown to start his first medical practice. He enjoyed giving back to his community from many charitable acts or simply taking care of a neighbor in need. Later in life, he completed his addiction medicine training and most recently served as the medical director of Cedar Recovery. This cause was something personal and very dear to him. He was able to mentor and help many thru the process of recovery. When he was not serving his community, he was happiest spending time by the water, cooking for his family, watching an evening sunset, and in general enjoying any of the finer things in life. He believed life was meant to be experienced. Very few knew how many people he had helped during hard times and often was described to have treated everyone as equals. He often spoke about how his father was the most influential person to him. He was widely influenced by many musical genres based on what he was going thru in various times of life. Towards his final days, he had spoken that he felt he was able to have done all the things in life he had wanted too and visited most of the places he wanted to see. In memory of our Dad, we hope each one of you live your lives to the fullest and treasure each moment.
