Dorothy "Dot" Martin

Dorothy (Dot) May Martin Born July 3, 1929 in Nashville, Tn to the late Jesse and Catharine Harrington. Passed away at the age of 96 in her home in Nashville, Tn surrounded by family August 30, 2025.

Dot Martin will be remembered most for her love and devotion to her family. She took great pride in raising her five children and found joy in caring for them every day. An amazing cook Dot filled her home with warmth and love, and the smell of her delicious meals. She had a creative spirit and spent countless hours crocheting and quilting - two of her favorite pastimes.

Dot's love for music was unmatched: she was always ready to dance and brighten the room with her smile. She had a sweet tradition of ending her evenings with ice cream, a small joy that brought her comfort. A faithful member of River Road Church of Christ for many years, she worshiped alongside her husband Robert (Red) Martin, and built her life around faith, family, and community, their home became an extension of the church itself, where friends and fellow members often gathered after services to share laughter and play pool in the basement. Her laughter, her dancing, and her warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Dorothy Martin is survived by her children Phillip Lynn Martin (Jacqueline), Patricia Louise (Jimmy A) Walling, Robert Michael Martin; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home (Hwy 100) from 11:30am to 1:30pm with a celebration of life service at 1:30pm, and burial to follow.
