Doris Jean Lyons, 92, of Franklin, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma B. and Wilbert E. Wood.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Karen Lyons Andershock (Chris), four children, Jordan Andershock, William Andershock (Alexis), Jackson Andershock and Lexy Andershock, as well as numerous extended relatives and friends.

Doris was a woman of remarkable strength, fierce determination, and unwavering conviction. She was passionate, driven, and steadfast in what she believed. When Doris believed in something, or someone, she stood firmly behind it. She faced life on her own terms, with a strength that was unmistakably hers, and those who knew her understood that beneath her strong exterior was a woman who loved deeply, protected fiercely, and cared wholeheartedly.

Her family held an important place in her heart, and she was especially proud of being a grandmother. Doris loved with strength and purpose. She was someone her family could count on, and the lessons she taught through her determination, resilience, and loyalty will remain with them for generations.

Doris was a caretaker by nature. She had a special place in her heart for animals and was always willing to care for and protect those that needed her. That same nurturing spirit could be seen in her love of plants and horticulture. Doris owned and cared for many plants, surrounding herself with things she could nurture, grow, and bring to life.

She was also a wonderful cook and baker who knew that some of the best memories were made around a table. Among all the things she prepared, her chocolate cake was especially loved and will undoubtedly bring back fond memories for those fortunate enough to have enjoyed it.

Doris loved the beach and the Gulf Coast, where she found beauty, freedom, and a sense of peace. The strength and constancy of the water seemed fitting for a woman who possessed those same qualities herself.

Doris lived with conviction. She knew who she was, she knew what she believed, and she was not easily moved from either. She considered herself blessed and protected throughout her life, and that assurance was part of the strength with which she faced both good days and difficult ones. She met life head-on, stood her ground when it mattered, and remained true to herself through it all.

The family would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood alongside Doris and helped care for her. A very special expression of gratitude is extended to Dr. Tara Atwood, whose unwavering friendship went far beyond what could ever be expected. The family would also like to express their deep appreciation to the entire staff of The Pearl at Fairview for the kindness, compassion, and dedicated care they provided. Their commitment to Doris and the support they extended to her family will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

The family cordially invites relatives and friends to visit on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 12:00 pm until 12:45pm with the Life Celebration service to commence at 1:00pm at Brentwood Baptist Church, 7777 Concord Road in Brentwood. The committal service will immediately follow via an escorted cortege at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 TN-100 in Nashville.
