Daniel Dean Spivey

December 13, 1967 — November 15, 2025

Daniel Dean Spivey was born in Fort Rucker, Alabama, on December 13, 1967, to the late David Lawrence Spivey and Anne Marie Swartzlander Spivey, and entered eternal rest in Dickson, Tennessee, on November 15, 2025, at the age of 57.

Daniel was well known for his amazing customer service, his dedication to his work, his loyalty to his family, and his active participation at his church, New Hope Baptist. Over the years, Dan served faithfully as a youth director, was deeply involved in puppet ministry, often shared the weekly announcements, and taught young adult classes. He served as a Deacon and lived out a strong, genuine faith that touched everyone around him. He loved Jesus, and he loved talking about Him.

Daniel and his wife, Amanda Rae Spivey met at the early age of 17 at MTSU. They quickly became best friends. Dan immediately became Amada’s biggest supporter and confidant. Their friendship then turned into 22 beautiful years of marriage that also brought Dan his pride and joy, his daughter, Maggie Jane Spivey- who could do no wrong in his eyes.

In his professional life, Daniel was the Frame Shop Manager at Hobby Lobby, where he built a devoted following of customers who admired his skill, his patience, and his warm personality. He was tentative, meticulous, incredibly friendly, and highly knowledgeable. But just as much, he was loved for the way he made people laugh. He was always funny, always pulling jokes, and always brightening someone’s day. His coworkers cherished him—not just because he was reliable and hardworking, but because he filled the store with humor, excitement, and joy. Whether he was planning a playful scare, telling a joke, making a hilarious video, or surprising everyone by showing up in a full Santa suit every Black Friday weekend, Dan created memories that will be talked about for years to come. No one was safe from his antics—not even the auditor!

He was known for his colorful shirts, his big, contagious smile, and a laugh that could shift the mood of an entire room. Yet, behind the humor was a deep well of compassion. Daniel listened when someone needed to vent, offered encouragement right when it was needed most, and showed up simply to be a friend. His generosity of spirit matched his sense of humor, making him a rare kind of person—one who could make you laugh, think, and feel cared for all at once.

His motto in life was, “It is my hope I can elevate your joy through laughter and a little absurdity.” And he lived that out every single day. To say he will be greatly missed is putting it mildly. He left behind enormous footprints and a space in our hearts that will never be fully filled. Yet, we find comfort knowing exactly where he is now. And knowing our Daniel, he entered Heaven dancing, laughing, and already keeping everyone highly entertained.

In addition to his wife and daughter, Dan is survived by his brother Darwyn D. Spivey (Lana) of Guntersville, Al and his mother, Anne Marie Swartzlander.

Serving as pallbearers will be Derrick Cathey, Eric Sanders, Eric Tidwell, Aaron Mangrum, Andrew Wilkerson and Isaac Lewis.
