Clyde C. Dean

Clyde C. Dean age 92, of Nashville, TN passed away on December 9, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Grace Dean; brothers, Edgar Henry Dean, Herbert Eugene Dean; sister, Mildred Engles.

Survived by his loving wife of 74 years Marion “Mae” Dean; children, Gail (Roger) Smith, Barry (Janet) Dean; grandchildren, Grant (Suzanne) Smothers, Kristy (Patrick) Crawford, Lindsay (Daniel) Meek; great grandchildren, Mann Smothers, Murphy Smothers, Savannah Meek, Sawyer Meek, Addison Crawford, and Ansley Crawford.

Clyde was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1948. He worked in the trucking industry for many years. Clyde loved sports of all kinds including golfing and tennis. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and playing board games with Mae. Clyde was a big supporter of his children and never missed any of their games. He was a Past President of McCabe Senior Men’s Golf Association. He coached championship little league baseball for 6 years in west Nashville having a huge impact on the community. To this day some of his former successful players still remember him fondly and acknowledge that he was one was one of the best coaches they ever had. Clyde was one of the original founders and active member of Hillview Church of Christ.

There will be visitation Monday, December 12, 2022 from 10:30am ~ 12:00pm with a Graveside Service at 12:30pm all at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home.

As Clyde would say, “We’ve had a good life”, “We’ve had a lot of fun”.
