Obituary

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Carolyn McLaughlin, a deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life was defined by faith, love, and quiet strength.

Born in Kentucky, she carried with her the warmth, hospitality, resilience and kindness that would become the hallmark of her life. In her later years, she moved to Franklin to be closer to the people who brought her the greatest joy—her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Brian McLaughlin, and a proud and devoted mother to her children: Nerissa, Austin, and Paul. Her greatest delight was being “Yaya” to her eleven cherished grandchildren, each of whom she adored beyond measure.

Known for her gentle spirit and servant’s heart, she had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her home was a place of warmth—filled with open arms, home-cooked meals, laughter, and the comforting sense that you belonged. She was a wonderful cook, an avid reader, loved her flowers & garden and someone who found joy in caring for others.

Beautiful both inside and out, she lived her life as a reflection of her deep and unwavering faith. She embodied the qualities of the Proverbs 31 woman—grace, strength, humility, and devotion to her family.

She was surrounded by family and love in her final days, just as she had spent her life surrounding others with the same.

Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the faith she carried so diligently, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. She will be remembered always for her gentle spirit, her steadfast love, and the beautiful example she set for all who knew her.

Proverbs 31:25-31 NIV "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."

Thank you to all of our family and friends for joining us in celebrating Carolyn. Though our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Christ and the assurance that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. Carolyn’s love, faith, and gentle spirit will live on in the lives of her family and all who were blessed to know her. Until we meet again, she will remain forever in our hearts.
