Caroline Rose Giannattasio

Caroline Rose Giannattasio, 91, of Nashville, TN died peacefully at home on Friday, October 14 2022.  Joining her husband on the day of their 55th wedding anniversary. Caroline was born on April 10, 1931 in New York City, New York.

She grew up in Little Italy, the daughter of Luigi and Rose Caruso. Luigi immigrated to America from Italy at the age of 17. He owned his own business as a custom tailor in Manhattan. Planting the seed of Caroline’s life long love of fine clothing. She met and married the love of her life, Ralph Giannattasio in 1967. They had one son, Vincent. They resided on Long Island in Manhasset, NY until moving to Nashville in 2019

Caroline’s passion in life was cooking and excelled at it. Caroline proudly maintained sacred traditions, including the love of food, family and faith, now carried on by those who survive her. She learned and passed down many delicious dishes from Calabria, the town in Italy her mothers family was from. Family holiday gatherings at the Giannattasio home were all day events. Consisting of many delicious courses and constant boisterous conversation and laughter.

Caroline treasures these times with friends and family

When Caroline and Ralph became grandparents she was over the moon. She loved buying clothes for her grandchildren and would send not just a few pieces, but wardrobes at a time!  This brought her great joy.

Caroline is survived by her son Vincent (Maria) and grandchildren Joseph and Alanna

She is also survived by her beloved nephew Rabbi Joshua Caruso (Leah) and great nieces Harper and Shayna and great-nephew Asher.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Giannattasio of Nashville, brother Sal Caruso and sister Camille Caruso. Both of New York City.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Henry Church on October 25, 2022 at 11am. Visitation will be that morning from 9:30 - 11:00
