Born in Vegas and raised in New Orleans... that tells us a lot about Shane! He had a larger-than-life personality but also quiet. He wore many hats in his lifetime: Son, Uncle, Husband, Father, Friend, Construction worker, DJ, but most important Pops to Hallie. He played golf, umpired, played horseshoes and cornhole, threw darts and Coached baseball and softball. Getting to be Coach Pops for Hallie’s team brought him joy beyond belief!
Shane was born on Sept. 14th, 1964, to Dickye Carolyn Price Baggett and Robert Thomas Burton.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Dickye Baggett, his brother Tommy Burton and his grandparents Ben & Olline Price, and his father Robert Thomas Burton.
He is survived by his wife, Mitzi Burton, his Children, Ashley & Dalton Burton, his granddaughter, Hallie Burton Richards, his brother John Platz III, his father John Platz Jr. and stepfather Henry Baggett, and by more Family and Friends then we could possibly mention.
We will have a Celebration of Life service at Backroads Bar & Grill on Sunday, Feb. 15th, 12pm to 4pm in Springfield. Again, on Monday, Feb 16th from 2pm to 6pm at Greenbrier First Baptist Church.
As much as Shane loved music, if you have a song that reminds you of him, please send it to Ashley or Mitzi. There will be an opportunity at both services to share stories, so please think of all the happy and funny stories you have, as laughter and wonderful memories are what will sustain us!
