Obituary

Barbara Mae (Keith) Travis

On October 22, 2026, the world lost a little bit of its sparkle with the passing of Barbara Mae Travis of White Bluff, Tennessee, at the vibrant age of 81.

Barbara lived a life full of heart, laughter, and high-octane fandom. Her legendary love story began back at Cohn High School when she met Freddie, the love of her life. They married on May 21, 1965, embarking on a lifelong partnership that was as sweet as it was enduring.

To know Barbara was to be instantly befriended by her. She never met a stranger, possessing that rare, beautiful gift of making everyone she crossed paths with feel like family. And speaking of family, Barbara held a very special title: the oldest cousin of the infamous "Dirty Dozen Cousins." Whether she was dreaming up the next escapade or simply going along with the group's latest shenanigans, Barbara was always front and center, ready for any adventure, trip, or joyful chaos that came her way.

If you ever found yourself driving behind a car sporting a gleaming Elvis and Graceland front license plate cruising down Highway 70, you didn't even need to look inside to know Barbara was behind the wheel. Her devotion to Elvis and Alan Jackson was fierce, joyful, and perhaps just a tiny bit obsessive—the kind of love for country music and the King that makes the soundtrack of heaven full of twang and rhinestones today.

Barbara is now reunited in the great beyond with her beloved husband, Freddie Travis; her parents, Edgar and Marie Keith; her siblings, Alvin and Rose-Marie; and her dear, lifelong friends Dickie and Linda Davis, and Tony Tant, who are undoubtedly welcoming her with open arms and a great playlist.

She leaves behind a cheering section of loved ones who will miss her fierce loyalty and warm spirit every single day, including her son Jeff (Marsha) Travis, daughter Christy Travis, and her adored grandchildren, Baker Travis and Dani (Derek) Sutton. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Melba Keith, along with a wonderful host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will keep her adventurous spirit alive.
