Barbara Austin

Barbara Austin, a beloved mother, Meme, and friend, passed away on December 18,2024, at the age of 54. Born on November 1, 1970, in Chicago, IL, Barbara’s life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and cherished moments. 

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Austin and Theresa Martin; and step-father, Harvey Martin (GranGran) 

Barbara is survived by her children, Ashley (John), Arthur Rolly Austin, and Allister; grandchildren, Aliyah, and Cyncere; siblings, Terry (Steve), James (Criseyda), Marianne (Donnie), and Bart. 

Barbara had an infectious spirit, one that revolved around her passion for family, community, and life’s simple pleasures. She adored her grandkids, reveling in every moment spent with them. Her laughter echoed through the halls of her home as she created lasting memories, each one treasured by those fortunate enough to share with her. 

An avid sports enthusiast, Barbara was a staunch supporter of the Tennessee Titans, proudly wearing her colors and cheering them on with a fervor that inspired those around her. Barbara attended numerous Titans games and when the sun shone brightly, she found joy at the beach or relishing in the charm of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. 

In her role as a coach for the West Park softball team, Barbara imparted not just skills to her players but also the values of teamwork, dedication, and resilience. She was a guiding light, always encouraging others to reach for their dreams and to believe in themselves. 

In quieter moments, you could find Barbara immersed in a game of bingo or focused on a challenging game of solitaire, tapping into her competitive spirit while relishing in the peace those activities brought her. She enjoyed playing online games on her phone in her free time, and while never owning a motorcycle, found joy in Harleys and other motorcycles, alike. 

Barbara Austin leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and cherished moments that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
