Ana Maria Vicens

Ana Maria Vicens, a devoted matriarch whose warmth, wit, and boundless love touched generations, passed away on January 5, 2025. She was born on April 17, 1934, in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, and lived a life rich with family, culture, and joy.

She is predeceased by her mother, Adela Santos; her father, Ruperto Gonzalez; her beloved husband of 65 years, Agustin Rivera; their infant son, Agustin Jr.; her sister, Ana Luisa Gonzalez; and her brother, Generoso Gonzalez, whose memories she carried with quiet grace. Her brothers Diomedes Gonzalez, Luis Gonzalez, Jose Gabriel Gonzalez, and children, Sonia Gonzalez, Magda Vicens, and husband Michael Sancho, Hilda Nunez and husband Esaul Nunez, Elixa Beaumont and husband John Beaumont, Maria Vicens, Jesus Manuel Vicens Gonzalez and wife Erica Gonzalez, and Edwin Vicens survive her along with grandchildren Ramon Luis “Junito” Henandez, Emabel and Esual Nunez, Christopher Oliveros, Amaris Pearson, Yasiris Gonzalez, Ashley Robles Vorbrich, Summer Perrin, Hannah Beaumont, Giovanni Sancho, Giovanna Gonzalez, Gabriela Gonzalez, Mercedes Vicens, Jonathan Vicens, Vito Vicens, Justus Vicens, and Hank Manuel Gonzalez, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and an extended circle of family and friends who were drawn to her generous spirit. Her family will miss her dearly, and they remember her as a source of strength, laughter, and unwavering love.

A woman of many passions, Ana found joy in dancing, cooking, predominantly Puerto Rican cuisine, domino games, going to the flea market, and the simple pleasure of spending time with her grandchildren. She delighted in the sound of a hearty laugh and was known for a wit as bright as her smile. She prided herself on caring for her husband with love and guiding her children with a steady hand and firm, loving discipline to keep them safe in the rough neighborhoods they called home.

As the family’s matriarch, Ana’s love of travel brought her closer to those she cherished. She enjoyed visits to Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Puerto Rico, traveling to see her children, grandchildren, and siblings, always returning with stories, recipes, and a spark of adventure that she shared with all who knew her.

Ana’s legacy is measured not only by the number of her descendants but by the countless moments of tenderness and resilience she imparted to each generation. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who carry forward her love, laughter, and enduring spirit.

The family will announce a funeral mass and services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Ana Maria Vicens, fue una mujer cuya calidez, ingenio y amor inagotable marcaron generaciones enteras, ella nació el 17 de abril de 1934 en Jayuya, Puerto Rico, vivió una vida rodeada de su familia. Su sensible fallecimiento fue el día lunes 5 de enero de 2025.

Sus padres fueron; Adela Santos y Ruperto González; su querido esposo de 65 años, Agustín Rivera; su hijo infante, Agustín Jr.; su hermana, Ana Luisa González; y su hermano, Generoso González, cuyas memorias llevó con quieta gracia.

Sus hermanos: Diomedes González, Luis González y José Gabriel González.

Sus nietos: Ramón Luis “Junito” Hernández, Emabel y Esual Núñez, Christopher Oliveros, Amaris Pearson, Yasiris González, Ashley Robles Vorbrich, Summer Perrin, Hannah Beaumont, Giovanni Sancho, Giovanna Gonzalez, Gabriela Gonzalez, Mercedes Vicens, Jonathan Vicens, Vito Vicens, Justus Vicens y Hank Manuel Gonzalez, diez bisnietos, cuatro tataranietos y un amplio círculo de familiares y amigos atraídos por su espíritu generoso.

Su familia la extrañará profundamente y la recordará como una fuente de amor inquebrantable, de fortaleza y de risas. Una mujer de muchas pasiones, Ana encontraba su alegría en el baile, la cocina, principalmente la puertorriqueña, entre sus pasatiempos estaban el juego de dominó, visitar el mercado de pulgas y el simple gozo de pasar tiempo con sus nietos.

Le encantaba escuchar el sonido de una risa sincera, y era conocida por su ingenio tan brillante y su inconfundible risa. Se agradaba de cuidar a su esposo con amor y de guiar a sus hijos, eso sí, con mano firme y disciplina amorosa, para mantenerlos seguros en los vecindarios difíciles donde vivieron.

El amor de Ana por los viajes la acercó a quienes más apreciaba. Disfrutaba de visitas a Tennessee, Florida, Pennsylvania, Nueva Jersey y Puerto Rico, viajando para ver a sus hijos, nietos y hermanos, siempre regresando con historias, recetas y una nueva aventura que compartía con todos los que la conocían.

El legado de Ana se mide no solo por el número de sus descendientes, sino también por los innumerables momentos de amor, fortaleza y moral que transmitió a cada generación.

Su memoria vivirá en los corazones de su familia y sus amigos, quienes continúan abrazando el recuerdo de su amor, su risa y memorias. La familia anunciará una

ceremonia religiosa y los servicios fúnebres. En lugar de flores, la familia solicita donaciones a Hospice y a la Fundación del Alzheimer.
