Alvin "Al" Riedl of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on November 16, 2023, at the age of 88. He was born on May 8, l935, to Leonard and Gloria Riedl. In exactly nine years later, his only surviving sibling was born Carole Hunter (John) now of North Carolina. In 1954 he graduated from Dearborn High School in Michigan and soon joined the United States Coast Guard, where he served four years of active duty and received his honorable discharge in 1960. He then soon began barbering, which he enjoyed because of the skill required and especially because of his customers. He retired from the barber shop around 2017 but continued to cut some of his customers' hair in their homes. He also enjoyed traveling, doing handiwork around the house and car, finishing and refinishing furniture, and always listening to music. Al is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Martha of sixty-three years; his daughter Carolyn Joffe (David); his grandchildren Sarah Joffe and Jackson Joffe; and his sister Carole Hunter. On Friday, December 1, he was buried at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane, Nashville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alive Hospice in Al's honor. A celebration of life will be held on December 30, 2023, at Hillsboro Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be from 10:00am until the service hour at 12:00 noon.
