Alton Howard

December 24, 1939 – February 5, 2023

Alton Howard, 83, died February 5, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born December 24, 1939 in Swampton, Kentucky to Sam and Geneva (Wireman) Howard. He grew up in Chelsea, Michigan, graduating from Chelsea High School in 1959. He earned a B.S. degree from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

He married Betty Bohenna January 6, 1968 in Chelsea, Michigan. Together they had one daughter, Karen Noel.

Alton and Betty lived in Michigan, Arizona, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee. Alton retired from Chrysler Automotive in Huntsville, Alabama in 2002 after 30 years of service.

Alton and Betty loved to travel and visited many places. Alton especially loved cruising. He loved music of all kinds, especially outlaw music, his favorites being Waylon and Willie. He loved the Nashville Predators and had a passion for red corvettes.

His greatest joy was being a Dad to Karen. His love, support and adoration were evident to all who knew him.

He was a devoted husband, father, son and friend. Left to cherish his memory are wife Betty of 55 years and daughter Karen Howard, both of Nashville, Tennessee, Sister-in-Law Beverly Slane and nephew Ryan Slane, both of Chelsea, Michigan, and several cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him.

He was preceded in death by parents Sam and Geneva Howard, Brother-in-Law Mike Slane and nephew Ken Slane, both of Chelsea, Michigan.

His family would like to thank Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s for their love, support and guidance during his battle with Parkinson’s, the staff at Richland Place and Alive Hospice for their compassion and care during his final days.

Causes close to his heart were Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s and Nashville Humane Association.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral.
