People will be reading Rick’s book, “Vietnam and Beyond: A Doctor’s Mission,” for years to come. He has left us, in its pages, a picture of what those years were like for a young doctor. They show a soldier willing to go against his commanders if he felt that was what was best for his patients. That trait, that courage, that dedication, were a part of who Rick was throughout his life.
Rick was perhaps the most dedicated member of the Nashville Writers Alliance. You could count on him to show up every Tuesday night and read his stories. We listened, we applauded, and sometimes we cried. And always we loved this man and his stories.
