Nancy Low Raines, age 48 of Nashville, TN, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2020, after a 7 month battle with cancer. Survived by husband Todd, daughters Abby Todd and Anna Kate Todd Raines, her mother, Linda Low, her sister, Marney (Brian) Patterson, nephews Will and Drew Patterson and niece Evelyn Grace Patterson, her mother-in-law, Judy Shearon, father-in-law, Eddie Raines, brother-in-law Deke (Alice) Shearon, niece Stella Shearon. Nancy was born December 20, 1971 in Irving, Texas. Her family moved to Nashville in 1981. She graduated from St. Edward Catholic School, Father Ryan High School and MTSU, where she was a Chi Omega. Nancy’s pride and joy are he daughters, Abby and Anna Kate. Nancy and Todd never missed a chance to travel, especially to the beach, her happy place. She loved to spend time with her family and hardly ever missed her nephews’ sporting events. Her passion was working with children, and every child she taught loved Ms. Nancy. She cherished her friends and was always up for great time. She loved to be home with her family and all her pets. She was very proud of her family.
No one loved watching football and cheering for the Tennessee Volunteers or Chicago Cubs more than her. Nancy believed that everything should be monogrammed. Her strength was her spirit of love and compassion. She had an endless amount of love for her people.
Nancy had an infectious laugh and could light up a room. Everywhere she went, she never met a stranger. No matter where she traveled or went, she always ran into somebody she knew. She definitely had a love for life. Everybody knows Nancy, and we are all better for knowing her.

Nancy and I worked together at Reference Pathology when I moved to Nashville in 1995. She was always so fun and was a great person to work with. My heart broke when I learned she was sick. I am praying for her husband, daughters and other family and friends. Praying God’s comfort and piece for you all.

This woman was one of the most loving humans on the planet. Our friendship was effortless and we were always happy to “catch up” at Publix or Walmart. She became part of the Dodd tribe when she had our kiddo in preschool. From that moment on we were fast friends. I’m so glad Abby and Jake became friends as they grew into their 20’s. Maybe they’ll enjoy “catching up” as time goes by, just like Nancy and I used to do. Prayers for this entire family as they continue to lean into each other through this valley of sadness. We are all here for you. Much love, The Dodd Clan

What an amazing lady. I graduated from FRHS with Nancy and can remember her ever positive, vibrant spirit. I’ve ran into her a few times over the years and she was always the same; kind, honest, genuine.
As I think about her, I think what an authentic example of “They’ll know we are Christians by our love” that comes from John 13:35.

Proud to have known her and praying for her and the family in this difficult time.

I am so very sorry for the loss of Nancy. I worked with Nancy for a few short years back in 1995. We both worked in the same little office and would joke about having to lock up the 2 Nancy(s) together. She was definitely a sweet and special person.
