Mary Jane Emler, 61, passed away on August 25th, 2020 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. Mary was born on November 5th, 1958 in St. Thomas Hospital Nashville, Tennessee. She is survived by her mother Vera Wheat of Nashville, her son Chris Emler of Dallas, TX, her brother David Wheat of San Diego, and many friends and relatives. She is preceded in death by her father, Leroy Wheat of Nashville.

Mary was a Tennessee state administrative employee for Disability Determination Services for 39 years. She was a Christian and liked attending church services. Mary’s favorite hobbies were shopping and travel. Mary loved planning vacations and was well travelled in the US and Europe. Mary loved taking care of cats. She could light up a room with her smile and was carefree and light-hearted. She always found the good in everyone she met. Mary was an amazing lady who loved life. Her positivity and friendly personality cheered everyone up. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

Services will be performed by Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens at 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN 37221. Visitation will be Friday, August 28th between 4pm and 8pm and Saturday, August 29th between 1-2 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on August 29th, at 2pm in the chapel of Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Brother Roy Duke officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Atonement of Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.

    I will definitely miss her loving smile and her love of the Lord Mary Jane was a very quiet person she was fun to be around when we had time to talk and you know what ladies do, or should I say I did most of the talkin I will miss Mary Jane we would go out to eat on Sunday with the Covington’s. I will miss her smiling face

    I loved Mary Jane so much! There are so many happy memories of her playing with me when I was a small child. She was always so beautiful. I will miss her, but we will all have a blessed reunion one sweet day.

    I was in homeroom with Mary at Cohn High School. And worked with her at the DDS/Nashville. Mary was always the same. Sweet, gentle and funny, she always smiled. Even though it is sad of her sudden home going. I KNOW SHE IS SMILING!

    Sweet Mary was a coworker of mine. She always had a smile and a giggle. I will miss seeing her in the break room everyday at 1:00 p.m. My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time. ((HUGS))

    I worked with Mary briefly at DDS and talked to her frequently on breaks and in the halls. She was a sweet and wonderful lady that just loved life! She will be missed!

    Vera I am so very sorry for the loss of your daughter I knew her from Area Vocational Tech School and I had seen her once at Walmart in Dickson and that was the last time I had seen her but I never knew it would be this way I just wanted to send my condolences to her family May the love of Jesus comfort and guide each and every one in this devastating time and give her family peace She was my friend and Mary Jane will be missed .     I’ve known Mary for 18 years and I never once heard her speak ill of anyone. She was a genuinely kind and caring person. I will miss Mary and her sweet laugh and smile, she had a smile for everyone.

    I need Mary the 6 in a half years I worked at dds she was a sweet, funny and always smiling me in her will always stop in talk when we see each other in hug, so sorry for your loss praying for family.
