Emil Mongeon, 77, of Brentwood Tennessee, passed away on April 7th, 2017 in his home in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Emil was born in Northbridge, Massachusetts to Frederick and Leona Mongeon on October 31, 1939. After graduation from Sutton Memorial High School he joined the Air Force Reserves and remained a member for six years. He married Elaine LaPlante on September 22, 1962 and began work at Schusters Woolen Mills in Douglas, MA. Soon thereafter they relocated to Pittsfield, Ma to continue his career at Eaton Paper (later to become Sheaffer-Eaton), where he and Elaine raised their three children, Suzanne, Michelle, and Jeffrey. Emil was a bit of a pioneer in being involved as a father by heading up the PTA, the local Camp Fire Girls and an avid fan of the local hockey leagues. He was well-known for his home improvement projects, the most notable of which included building the family home on Melbourne Road with the help of his close friend, the late Paul Grenier. Later, the family moved to Costa Mesa, CA where Emil worked with Pentel. He and Elaine began their world travels through their frequent business trips to Japan where Pentel was located. They enjoyed visiting landmarks throughout Western and Eastern Europe as well as Mexico and the Caribbean. But Romania stole their hearts with the friendships made through their work in real estate there. Emil and Elaine move to Brentwood Tennessee with their daughter, Michelle, 27 years ago. This was the beginning of his very successful career in real estate. Emil was involved in the real estate industry in his community as well as abroad. He was the past President of the Williamson County Association of Realtors. An expert in international real estate, Emil was a member of the National Association of REALTORS International Advisory Board, the National Association of REALTORS International Operations Committee, and International Consortium of Real Estate Associates (ICREA). He received the 2015 Tennessee Association of Realtors Realtor of the Year award. He also served as the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) Presidential Liaison to Romania where he and Elaine made several trips to assist in the development of the current residential real estate sales market. He also spoke internationally on real estate issues.
He owned his own real estate company, Legacy International for the past 15 years where he worked alongside Elaine and his daughter, Michelle.

Emil is preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Leona and his siblings Frederick,
George (Omer), Lena, Pat, Jeanette, and Irene.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Brentwood, TN, his three children, Suzanne Hart of
Cambridge, MA, Michelle Payne and her husband Rick of Brentwood, TN, and Jeffrey Mongeon of Garden Grove, CA, his brother Roland of Kansas City, MO, his two grandchildren Benjamin Hart and Jacqueline Hart, both of Philadelphia, PA, and 36 nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday 4-8 pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home located at 9090 Highway 100, Nashville, TN 37221. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Harpeth Hills Funeral

I am so saddened to hear of your loss. I wish I’d known and Jon & I would’ve been there last week. Emil was the leader of the BEST TIMES of Pentel years! He was kind, compassionate and at the same time he was the best party giver and the life of the party. He was larger than life always adored you Elaine and Michelle, Jeff and Suzanne. Many of us ex-Pentel friends have text about all the fun we had and we loved our careers under his regime. I certainly want to represent Pentel friends in saying that HE was loved.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
      Love Lisa and Jon Weber

My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you endure this tragic loss.
I had the pleasure of knowing Emil through the Real Estate Industry. Emil was my listing agent to manage and sell local foreclosed properties. Emil was an outstanding agent…one with the highest of ethics and knowledge. He was dependable and a man of his word.
I’m so very sorry for the loss of this fine gentleman. The world has grown a little darker with the absence of the light Emil radiated wherever he was present.
I pray God’s comfort and strength for Emil’s family and all who loved him. May all the wonderful and loving memories help ease your grieving hearts.
It was my great pleasure to have known Emil. I know he is resting in peace.

Elaine — my prayers are with you. Emil cared for this community, almost as much as he cared about you. It was a joy to work alongside him.

There is no greater sense of loss than when a loved one passes. Emil and I worked together many years back. I considered him a good-hearted and passionate man committed to bring about change for the better to those areas where he earned influence or created it. He continues to be an inspiration through the legacy of his actions remembered.

Emil’s passing gives one opportunity to reassess what is truly important in our own lives, to live with compassion and kindness and to make it our greatest ambition to love well. Thank you, Emil.

Emil was a vibrant classmate of Leadership Brentwood Class of 1999…the best class. He was an active participant in all things Brentwood, a consummate professional, and a gentleman. He was also a great cook. I shall miss his him, his red shirt, and his Christmas Ziti.

Sad news and well wishes to the family. I was part of the Pentel family that Emil built. He was a great manager and larger than life. I can see he continued to spread his cheer and knowledge even after his Pentel life. What a guy!
The energy in this world is certainly lessened by his departure.

I am just seeing this. I was shocked. I was on vacation in Nashville, and just got home. My husband and I had lunch
at Corky’s in Brentwood. I loved Emil. He was Pentel as far as I am concerned. Emil was so energetic and full of life.
He was very good to me. We worked hard and we played hard. He made it all run the right way. I always look back on
my days at Pentel with the utmost of joy because Emil made it so. Elaine, children and family, I am so sorry for your
loss. I have very fond memories of Emil.

    Elaine,
I just went on line looking for Emil and noted his passing. I am truly sorry for your loss and will keep him in my prayers. It seems like yesterday that we had all the good times in Pittsfield and it sounds like you two had a great life after we left. I was always hoping that our paths would cross again in this lifetime but perhaps they will in the next.
    Phil
