Dewey Perrigo transitioned peacefully on Sunday, March 4th, 2019 surrounded by family and friends after a sudden illness that led to organ failure. Dewey was born in Goodlettsville on December 4, 1953 to Nellie Ruth Ezzell Perrigo and James “Doc” Perrigo.

A true Southern gentleman, Dewey will be remembered by both friends and family for his many professional accomplishments but even more so for his exuberant personality, his quick, dazzling smile and especially for his seemingly unlimited storytelling capabilities. A caring and devoted father, loyal husband, loving son, and fun-loving friend, Dewey touched so many with his kindness, empathy and unique sense of humor.

Those left behind to cherish Dewey’s memory include his mother Nellie Ruth, his beloved wife Andrea, sons Colin and Shane, daughter Dylan Perrigo and son-in-law Bruno Abramoff and grandsons Elias and Otto as well as many friends and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his father “Doc” and his brother Ricky.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society at LLS.org.

Funeral Services for Dewey Lee Perrigo, of Nashville, will be on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens in Nashville TN at 2:30 pm.

I met Dewey when we were 10 at New Bethel church. We became fast buds and remained so thru junior and senior HS at GHS. Most of my HS memories would include Dewey. May God bless his wife, mom and children during this most difficult time.

Dewey was always a magnetic personality, even in early childhood. He was handsome, charming but even more personable. As the batgirl on the little league Braves team he played for, he was one of my favorites. In adult years when we reconnected in Facebook, he was the same sweet guy. I saw him at Ricky’s funeral and he was the same. His presence in this earth brought much needed sunshine. His loss will be felt by many. Prayers for all his family and friends.

I grew up with Dewey from elementary school to graduating. We lived just a few houses away from each other. Dewey and Ricky were so much fun. We played many outdoor games such as hide and seek & dodgeball. Such wonderful memories of such a great man, friend & classmate. May God Bless his wife, family & friends and may all of them feel His presence, love, peace & comfort through this time of grief. Prayers to all.

Dewey wass good Guy…. smart, good looking and always looking for a new adventure. I hadn’t been in touch with him in years , but after his return to Tennessee, I received a call from him. It was about business but pleasant to hear that voice. My love and condolences go out to his mother, wife, children and lifelong friends. His daughter, Dylan was my sons first crush. Her grandmother and the grandmother we of a friend of my sons were neighbors They were about 7 Memories are what we have and I don’t think that there will many days that ‘ll go by that Dewey’s name won’t come up in conversation. A true Goodlettsville boy….

Very saddened at this news! Prayers to his family and friends. Dewey was probably one of the nicest and most popular guys to come out of GHS. After High School he worked for my dad it’s southern land surveying for a while and I even fixed him up with one of my best friends who he saw for a while. We recently reconnected on Facebook and I know that he was very proud of his family! Just wanted his family to know he was a great guy all of his life!

I did not know Dewey, but from the memories shared it’s obvious that he was very special and loved by many. Dealing with the death of a loved one is so very hard to do. I hope you can find comfort in God’s promise to restore our dead loved ones to life here on the earth, never having to say goodbye again. Through God’s Kingdom, Jesus will make this earth the problem-free paradise that his Father intended it to be. Until that time let your memories take you back and make you smile, let prayer bring you peace and comfort, and the support from your family and friends help you through this very difficult time.- Matthew 6:9-10; Acts 24:15; Psalm 37:11, 29

Our beloved Dewey has passed. Never saw him without that bigger than life smile! The last time I saw Dewey he gave me his GHS Alumni fees to pay! Shortly before was the estate and auction sale of his childhood home. I bought a couple of antique tables, some other sweet pieces. I admired his mom’s handmade quilts.. with tears in his eyes he said..”I want you to have them instead of selling them today.” I cherish these beautiful quilts! On my family farm here in Goodlettsville… a pre-civil war cabin.. they are displayed and admired! Thank you for your friendship Dewey! And thank you for the beautiful quilts! Bless your sweet wife, children and momma! You will be missed and you were loved dearly.❤️
